rules and regulations

1. Each team may consist of two (2) to three (3) students. Team may consist of student from different level of undergraduate studies and from any courses.


2. The number of teams participating may be limited due to space restrictions, so register early.


3. The contest will be five (5) hours in duration. The team that correctly solves the most problems within the five (5) hours will be declared the winner.


4. In the event that more than one team solves the same number of problems, the team solving them in the least total time will be declared the winner.


5. Each incorrect submission results in a 20 minute time penalty.


6. During the contest, the network must be used only to submit contest problems or questions and get responses from the contest officials. All other network activity will be disabled.


7. Teams will not be allowed to use any electronic devices, including (but not limited to) calculators, PDAs, cellular phones, laptops, and mp3/tape players. Teams may not bring CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives, or any other form of digital media.


8. Teams may bring a maximum of three (3) books and two hundred (200) pages of printed materials.


9. Each team will be assigned an area that includes a single computer and three chairs.


10. All programs must read all input from "standard input" and write all output to "standard output". For each problem, your submission must consist of a single source file using either Java or C/C++ as the programming language.


11. If programming in Java, you should not use "user-created" packages. The submitted code must compile in the default standard packages.


12. Pencils, pens and papers will be provided.


13. Food and drinks will be provided during the contest and can only be taken at a specified corner in the contest room. No food and drinks allowed on the contestant’s workstation.


14. A “runner” will be assigned to assist and accompany your team members during the contest.


15. Any act of hacking will result in immediate disqualification and the members of the team will be barred from participating in any programming contest in the future.


16. Programming Environment are as follows :


Operating Systems : Fedora 10 (Linux)
Compilers : Java 1.5 (SUN), GNU g++, gcc
Judging Software : PC2 System
IDE : Eclipse IDE, Netbeans IDE
